Students of Ayurvedic medical colleges in Uttarakhand have been protesting against arbitrary hikes in their college fees for 48 days now. They are saying that the fees have suddenly been increased from Rs 80,000 to Rs 2,00,000 per annum. Despite an order from the high court, the private colleges continue to strong arm the students to pay the increased fees, and there have been life-threatening attacks on the protesting students.
