Third Wave Fears Return
The National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) has warned that India could face a third wave of COVID-19, which is expected to peak in October. The slow pace of vaccination in India, along with the possible reduction in antibody levels in the population, and the emergence of new variants could soon cause another wave of infections. Although new evidence suggests that children are not likely to be affected more than adults in the next wave, the NIDM advised the Centre and state governments to equip hospitals and health systems to sufficiently deal with a possible rise in COVID-19 cases among children as schools reopen across the country
