Rajasthan Roadways Employees' Strike Spells Trouble for BJP

Newsclick Team |
The striking employees were forced to return to work after 23 days, even losing their salary partly as the government announced 'no work, no pay'.

The employees of the Rajasthan Roadways - who had gone on strike for 23 days last month - had to call off their shut down after the state government did not even bother to invite them to the negotiation table.

The strike had been invoked by a joint federation of Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) employees' associations with a charter of demands, including the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, post retirement benefits and addition of new buses.

They were forced to return to work after the Model Code of Conduct came into effect. The irony is, they even had to partly lose their salary as the government announced "no work, no pay".
