Students from the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) have been booked on sedition charges in the last ten odd days as a result of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) tactics to malign country’s leading universities and progressive democratic forces. These incidents do bring the question of “Nationalism” to the forefront of discussion. Newsclick interviewed civil rights activist and a writer, Gautam Navlakha, in this context.
According to Navlakha nationalism is not just sloganeering and weaving flags, but is a much larger concept. He expects all the democratic forces to come together and fight against this oppression.
