The incidents of cow vigilantism have risen alarmingly since Modi led BJP govt came to power. Of the 140 incidents that took place between 2016 and now, 125 occurred in 14 states ruled by the BJP. Not only is the center silent on the killings, BJP leaders have been seen supporting the accused in lynchings. The Supreme Court has sternly urged that the parliament bring in a separate law against lynching. However, it appears that the ruling BJP doesn't think that's required.
