Bahujan Left Front To Organise A ‘Maha Dharna’ From June 25 in Telangana

Demanding the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) led government to fulfill the promises it made during the 2014 assembly elections, Bahujan Left Front (BLF), a coalition of 28 political parties and organisations, including CPI(M), said it will be organising a three-0day agitation ‘Maha Dharna’, a sit-in protest in front of all  district collectorates in Telangana from June 25-27.

Presently BLF representatives are also undertaking surveys in all villages across the state to find out the problems being faced by the oppressed sections of the people. Alongside, they are appealing to the people to participate in the planned protest.  The survey has begun on June 3 and will be completed by June 24.

BLF has been raising issues concerning the people in various villages during the ongoing survey by organizing rallies and protests. On June 18, BLF organised a rally from Pittalagudem village in Motakonduru Mandal, Yadadri district and protested in front of the Mandal Revenue Office demanding the officials to take up their grievances.

The survey in Khammam district revealed that the developmental policies of the government are reachable only to the rich people while the poor are being neglected.  BLF district unit leader Y Vikram told that the colonies such as Ramanagutta, Vikalangula Colony and Sri Ramgiri colony in the district, which mainly resided by the poor people, are being deprived of the basic facilities including proper drainage system.

“The TRS election promises such as of houses for BPL families, land distribution for landless SCs and STs, pensions, concrete roads in villages, employment opportunities and so on have remained unfulfilled. The anti-peoples’ policies of the government have betrayed the aspirations of the state’s youth,” said John Wesley, CPI(M) state committee member to Newsclick. He added that the people will join in large numbers in the sit-in protest exposing anger against the government.

Ahead of the Panchayat elections in the state scheduled in July this year, BLF president N Surya Prakash Rao had earlier announced that the party will be contesting in all constituencies. Appealing the BLF workers to dethrone the TRS government, he said “that the BLF aims to form a people’s government. If BLF comes to power in 2019, a Backward Caste leader will be given the post of the chief minister and a woman will be made the deputy chief minister”.

On January 25 this year, Left and Ambedkarite parties in the state have come together and formed into BLF. The 28 parties of the front include CPI(M), Bahujan Rajyadika Party, Telangana Lok Satta, MCPI(U) among others.
